Lucy Prior is an emerging print maker, illustrator and mixed media artist. Based in Newcastle, Lucy draws on her inspiration from personal life experiences of love, loss and hope.
Lucy’s work infuses a sensitive response to common life experiences, including subtle suggestions of joy and the inevitable pleasures that are awaiting us in the everyday experiences of life. Lucy draws inspiration from the comfort and beauty of simple pleasures and the natural world.
Lucy has exhibited in New York, London, Rio De Janeiro, Russia and various locations within Victoria, Queensland and NSW. Her work is also regularly featured in national and international magazines, publications and on several social media pages. Her greeting cards are also sold from various national and international outlets.
Lucy’s creative genius also extends into her writing which is featured on an international arts blog. Lucy shares her personal experiences and insights as a practicing artist with her readers.
Lucy has most recently been a resident artist at the Bondi Art Lounge which saw extensive exhibitions of her work reflecting an Asian influence, highlighted in her mixed media origami ‘washi’ paper works. Lucy’s recent inspirations are leading to the desire to create a kimono range based on her designs which she also hopes to exhibit in Asia.
Recent publications include an emerging Australian artists collaboration and to be published in April 2016, an international publication on emerging female artists from around the world.
Lucy hopes people draw as much joy and comfort from her work as she does in creating it.
